C. Joanne Magee Obituary

On April 22, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable woman, C. Joanne Magee, who spent 94 beautiful and meaningful years in her cherished community of Lynn, Indiana. Born on March 25, 1930, in Carthage, Indiana, Joann was more than a loving mother, a generous grandmother, a thoughtful friend, and an esteemed member of her community. She was a beacon of creativity, kindness, and joy who left an indelible mark on everyone she met. As someone rightly said, "The beauty of a life well-lived never dies. Instead, it embraces, inspires, and remains forever in our hearts."

Joanne's creative spirit found numerous outlets, most notably in her passion for baking, crafts, crocheting, and sewing. Her homemade pies and beautifully crafted afghan quilts were not just beloved family treasures; they were symbols of her unwavering love and generosity. A long-standing member of the North Church of Christ, Lynn, and the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Lynn, Joann found incredible fulfillment in her faith and the companionship of her sisters-in-arms. Her greatest joy though, the one thing that mattered the most to her, was her family. Joanne's home was always filled with laughter, the smell of fresh-baked goods, and an abundance of love.

Joanne was the loving mother of James (Rachelle) Magee, Joe (Tonya) Magee, Linda Thomas, Kerry Magee, and Lela (Scott) York. She was the generous grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Alma Rood, her beloved husband, Raymond Magee, and her brothers George, Dallas Jr., and John Rood.

Joanne's life will be celebrated on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1:00pm EDT at Wilson-Shook Funeral Homes and Cremation Center (Thomas Memorial Chapel), 108 West Sherman Street, Lynn, Indiana, 47355. Visitation will begin at 11:00am EDT. As we gather to honor Joanne, we will remember a woman who embodied the quote, "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." In celebration of Joann's life, we encourage everyone to share their memories and upload photos to Joann's memorial page at www.wilsonshookfh.com. Her story is not just in the life she lived, but also in the lives she touched. Let's remember her together, just as she would have wanted - with love, laughter, and a slice of homemade pie.
