Bennie Carl Jones, 74, of Winchester, IN, passed away early Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Reid Health and Hospital of Richmond, IN. He was born September 21, 1947 in Monticello, KY, the son of Fred and Virginia (Walker) Jones. He was a 1965 graduate of Wayne County High School, Monticello, KY. He honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Bennie retired in 2010 as a skid-loader operator for Mendenhall Lumber, Union City, IN. He was a member of the Union City VFW #7804 and Randolph County Amateur Radio Club (KC9MPP). He enjoyed spending his leisure time in the outdoors; coin and knife collecting; playing his guitar and winning at the slot machines. He was a big supporter of the Randolph County Law Enforcement Youth Leadership Camp.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Emily; four children, Angel Hiner (husband, Eric) of Knightstown, IN, Travis Jones (wife, Kathe) of Lynn, IN, Jenny Campbell of Fountain City, IN and Benji Burchett (husband, Patrick) of Whitley City, KY; eight grandchildren, Derick and Kenzie Richmond (husband, Mark), Adam Jones (wife, Tiffany), Kourtney Jones, Kodie Riddle (Jaylen), Kaitlyn Ridener, Noah Burchett and Kollin Campbell; great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Addison, Parker, Brecklin, Kayson and Hudsen; three brothers, Marty Jones (Vickie) of London, KY, Scotty Jones (Rosemary) and Mark Jones (Sandra), all of Monticello, KY; and two sisters, Sherry Jones and Susan Dobbs (Johnathon), all of Monticello, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Kathy; and a sister and brother-in-law, Freda Baker (Frank).
A service to celebrate Bennie’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Lynn Friends Church of Lynn, IN with Pastor Matt Windham officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty Cemetery of Lynn, IN. Friends may gather to share and remember from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17th at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN.
