Charles Fredrick “Fred” Ludington, 72, of Parker City, IN passed away Friday afternoon, December 24, 2021 at IU Health, Ball Memorial Hospital of Muncie, IN. He was born June 30, 1949 in Muncie, the son of Richard and Julia (Sterrett) Ludington. He was a 1967 graduate of Monroe Central High School.
Fred was a member of Parker City United Methodist Church. He attended Selma Christ United Methodist Church of Selma, IN. He was a member of the Selma American Legion, Farmland Conservation Club and National Rifle Association. He was elected and proudly served on the Parker City Town Board for several terms.
Fred was the owner of Ludco Gun Shop in Parker City. He was tirelessly devoted to his many customers for all their hunting and fishing needs “eight days a week” for over 40 years. Fred personally enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and Reel Foot, Tennessee with his wife and many friends. He always looked forward to and supported the Parker City Homecoming Fair.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 31 years, Marcia (Butler) Ludington; a brother, David Ludington (wife, Barbara) of Farmland; three sisters, Nancy Hammer (husband, Roger) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Shirley Swallow (husband, Bing) of Parker City; and Linda Faughnder (husband, Larry) of Muncie; 23 special nieces and nephews; and 33 very special great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece; two nephews; and one great niece.
A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City.
