With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Cody Allen Blount, a loving father, a dedicated brother, and a doting grandfather. Born on March 31, 1934, in Hartford City, IN, USA, Cody spent 78 of his illustrious years in Modoc, Indiana, making a significant impact on the community. He was a witty and funny soul who had an innate ability to fill a room with laughter and warmth. His dedication and commitment were evident in every facet of his life, especially in his work and towards his family, the two cornerstones of his life. He honorably served in the United States Army as a heavy truck operator. Cody was a lifelong farmer, whose hands nurtured the land and whose spirit was an embodiment of its resilience and bounty. He retired from General Motors in 1993, after 41 years of diligent service. A testament to his dedication, Cody's unique work ethic was an inspiration to many. He was also a man of many talents, very mechanical, and had the remarkable ability to fix anything. His love for music enriched his life and those around him. As Mark Twain once said, "Work and play are words used to describe the same thing under differing conditions." For Cody, work and hobbies were a seamless blend of dedication, joy, and fulfillment. Cody's life was a testament to his love for his family, who were his greatest pride and joy. He is survived by his children, Brice (Lisa) Blount, Vicki Bales, and Sherry Breitwieser; his siblings, Merl (Norma) Blount and Wanetta (Cloy) Cheesman; his grandchildren, Kalen (Amanda) Bales, Ben (April) Bales, Daniel (Jessica) Bales, Bethany (Paul) Roloff, Sarah (Jake) Reilly, and Levi Breitwieser, and his great-granddaughter, Ayla Bales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Velma Blount; his beloved wife, Janice Blount, and his brothers, Roy and Lester Blount; and his son-in-law, Kurt Bales. The visitation will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 1:00pm EDT at the Wilson-Shook Funeral Homes And Cremation Center (Thornburg Memorial Chapel), 2048 North 1000 West, Parker City, Indiana. The celebration of Cody's life will follow at 3:00pm EDT at the same venue. We invite all who knew and loved Cody to join us in honoring his memory. As we celebrate Cody's life, we encourage you to share your cherished memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. Your contributions will serve as a comforting reminder of the beautiful soul that Cody was, and the profound impact he had on all our lives.
