Dale Wayne Barnes, 76, of Ridgeville, IN passed away peacefully, at this residence, Tuesday evening, May 24, 2022, with family by his side. He was born August 25, 1945, the son of Roy and Mary E. (Jessup) Barnes. He was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. He was a 1963 graduate of Ridgeville High School. He was married to his childhood sweetheart in 1964, Joan S. (Huffman).
Dale completed welding courses at Hobart Welding School in Troy Ohio. He worked 34 years as a journeyman welder for Westinghouse/ABB of Muncie, IN. He also operated a farm from 1973 to 2022. He also worked part-time construction work.
He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Winchester, IN, where he served as Head Trustee and Deacon. Throughout his life, Dale shared his love of Jesus Christ, his family, farming, and fishing. He loved the outdoors and traveling God’s earth, admiring both, Creator, and creation.
He leaves to share his memory his wife of 57 years, Joan S. (Huffman) Barnes; children, Steven L. Barnes (wife, Rebecca) of Ridgeville, IN and Darrell W. Barnes (wife, Susan) of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Kayla, Kira (husband, Greg Shoup), Kendra, Kourtney, Sarah (husband, Justin Frey) and Jenna Barnes; a brother, Elvan Barnes (wife, Sharon) of Ft. Wayne, IN; and a sister-in-law, Sharon. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ralph Barnes.
A service to celebrate Dale’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Cremation will follow. Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery of Ridgeville, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 27th, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Randolph County and/or Gideons International. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
