Gary Byrum Obituary

Gary Lee Byrum, age 77, died unexpectedly on July 31st, 2021.  He was born on June 27, 1944, in Winchester, IN, to the late Estel Byrum and Elizabeth Faye Rowland.  Gary was a graduate of Union City Wayne High School, Union City, IN. He was married for 55 years to Elizabeth (Betty) Nowitsch. 

He is survived by 3 children, Leigh Ann Barga (Jerry), Tom Byrum (Bobbie) and David Byrum (Megan).  Gary is also survived by his 5 grandchildren: Bracken Barga (Zoey), Jordyn Barga, Peyton, Elijah and Makenna Byrum; sisters Luanna Hollowell (Steve), Lorinda Lyons (Phil) and brother Michael Byrum; stepsisters Beckie Powell and Terry Regguinti; sister-in-law Anna Mote, Mary Hemmerich and brother-in-law John Nowitsch and many nieces and nephews. 

He served honorably in the National Guard and Jaycees.  He worked for Wrights IGA/Marsh for 45 years and after retirement he worked for Pak-a- Sak in Parker City, IN. Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren, camping, golfing, boating, yard work and watching sporting events!

A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery of Union City, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the funeral home.
