George Hubert Nuckols, 88, of Parker City, IN passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021. He was born January 10, 1933 in Pennville, IN, the son of Caylor and Alma (Bricker) Nuckols.George served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 and is a Korean War Veteran. During his time in the Navy, he served four years on the Balao-class submarine - USS Archerfish (S-311) where he received medals for Good Conduct and National Defense Service. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1955. After his service in the Navy, George had a successful career as a Brick Mason.
George was a member of the Farmland Church of the Nazarene with his wife Dorothy. George and Dorothy would often host missionary families while they were visiting from around the world.
In George’s earlier years, he enjoyed golf, coaching baseball and was an avid NASCAR fan. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Dorothy in their motorhome where they drove through 48 states.Though George enjoyed a long loving life, his greatest joy was his family.
George leaves to cherish in his memory his three sons, Randy (wife, Kathie) of Selma, Monte (wife, Robin) of Milwaukee, WI and Greg of Parker City; a brother, Mac Nuckols (wife, Beverly) of Portland and sister Judy Moore of Ridgeville; six grandchildren, Craig Nuckols (wife, Nicole) of Selma, Carrie Cherry of Muncie, Jason Nuckols of Parker City, Ashley Tow (husband, Rick) of Portland, Hannah Nuckols (husband, Mo Bayoumi) of Chicago, IL and Evan Nuckols (wife Sophia) of Waukesha, WI, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy of 53 years, his parents, three brothers, two sisters and Greg’s wife Amy.
Private services will be held at Thornburg Memorial Chapel.
