Ginny Lumpkin Obituary

Ginny (Mills) Lumpkin of Modoc, Indiana, passed away Thursday evening, February 17, 2022 at her residence, with family by her side. She was the daughter of Keith “Dugan” and Evanna (Grove) Mills. She was raised in Farmland, IN, and a lifelong resident of Randolph County. Ginny and her husband, Roger Lumpkin, raised their three children on their farm north of Economy. Roger and Ginny had a loving relationship and were married for 50 years.

Ginny graduated from Monroe Central High School in 1967 with the first freshman class of the consolidated school of Parker City and Farmland. In 1971 she graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. In 1977 she earned a Masters of Arts degree in Education from Ball State University.

Ginny was employed for 15 years as a Business Education teacher at Knightstown High School. She was the sponsor of the Business Professionals of America.

She was truly blessed to be a two-time breast cancer survivor since 1984. Her hobbies included puzzles, listening to music, cooking, gardening, bird watching, and fishing in the family pond. Ginny had several dogs as pets for most of her life. She enjoyed training them and their companionship in life. She was a pianist and organist for weddings and church services in her younger years.

Her fondest memories in life were raising her three children: Lance, Kyle and Renae. She also enjoyed being a grandmother to six grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Lance Lumpkin (Amy) of Economy, IN,  Kyle Lumpkin (Mandi) of Modoc, IN; and one daughter, Renae Denton (Chris) of Daleville, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Taylor, Keith, Abby and Katie Lumpkin, Carter and Madelyn Denton.

A service to celebrate Ginny’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery of Parker City, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23rd, at the funeral home.
