James Robert Croucher, known fondly as "Bub", passed away on October 1, 2023, leaving behind a world that was undeniably touched by his loving spirit. Born in Winchester, Indiana, on July 26, 1971, James spent his life in the close-knit community he loved, demonstrating throughout his life a generosity that knew no bounds.
A gifted mechanic and an ardent fan of racing, his talent shone brightest when he was tinkering under a hood or cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. His quick wit was a light that illuminated every room he entered, never failing to bring a smile to those around him. A devoted member of the Spartanburg Christian Church, James' faith was a cornerstone of his life. His love for God was only matched by his love for his family who he cherished immensely. His soul was a beacon of kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
As Mother Teresa once said, "We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love." This quote encapsulates James' philosophy of life. Despite life's challenges, he remained a steadfast source of strength and inspiration for his loved ones.
James is survived by his daughters, Jerricah Mayfield and Kylie Thornburg; his parents, Sandra (Ralph) Dalzell; siblings, Carla (Matthew) Guthrie and Moe (Mika) Dalzell; sister, Patricia (Joe) Jeffries; grandchildren, Jaelyn Beane, Jordyn Beane, Drake Croucher, Daxtyn Croucher, Parker Mayfield, and Cooper Mayfield; grandfather, Jim Jordan; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and great nieces and nephews; and his companion, Missy Martin. He was preceded in death by grandmother, Rita Bash; grandparents, Dorothy and Dalton Dalzel; and an uncle Jay Jordan.
A visitation for James will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 5:00 pm EDT at the Spartanburg Christian Church, 6714 East 700 South, Lynn, Indiana, 47355. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm EDT at the same venue. As we remember James, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos to his memorial page at www.wilsonshookfh.com. His story is not just in the facts of his life, but in the lives of those he touched. Let us remember James as he was: a loving, generous, talented, and witty soul whose light continues to shine brightly in our hearts.
