John P Engle

John P. Engle, 82, passed away on September 24, 2023 at the Randolph Nursing & Rehabilitation of Winchester, IN. He was born April 14, 1941, to the late Glen O. Engle and Harriett (Beavers) Engle, in Winchester, IN.

John was a 1959 graduate of Winchester High School. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant of the United States Army, having served at Camp Casey, Korea and at the Berlin Brigade, Berlin, Germany.

He worked for and retired after 43 years, in 2004 from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He then worked at Biehl’s Greenhouse for five years. He was a member of the Winchester Friends Church, having served as a trustee for many years.

John leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Patricia Engle of Winchester; a son, Eric Engle; a daughter, Sarah Engle Gisi; granddaughters, Adelynn and Annabelle, whom he adored; a brother, Dennis Engle; a sister, Glenda Engle Reece; nieces, nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Annette Engle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael (Pete) Engle; and a nephew, Mickey Engle.

Burial will be in Fountain Park Cemetery of Winchester, IN, with a graveside service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Winchester Friends Church, 124 E. Washington St., Winchester, Indiana 47394.
