It is with sadness to share the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Joseph “JT” Thornburg.
Born to Wilbur and Lunette (Bird) Thornburg on August 21, 1950, JT grew up on a farm north of Losantville, Indiana, and graduated from Union School.
JT was a farm boy who loved John Deere tractors, corvettes, racing, and semi trucks. His interest in engines began at an early age, opening his own business as a local mechanic. He drove semi trucks across the U.S. for many years before enjoying a successful career in truck sales with Stoops Freightliner in Indianapolis where he retired. He delighted in sharing his passions with loved ones and cherished spending time with his friends.
A helpful neighbor to many friends, he was well known for his beloved John Deere and eagerness to remove snow and leaves for his neighbors.
Surviving JT are his daughter, Faith (Atlanta, GA), stepson, Jason (Indianapolis), and grandchildren, Cassi (Indianapolis), Corey (Indianapolis), and Kai (Atlanta, GA).
Siblings include Tom Thornburg (Hawaii), Tillie Emmons (Elkhart, IN), Pat Odell (Muncie, IN), and Marilyn Seeds (Pataskala, OH). Several nieces and nephews complete the family. His parents and three siblings are deceased including Eugene, Jay, and Roselyn Thornburg.
A service to celebrate JT’s life will be 3:00 PM Friday, August 11, 2023 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Windsor, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 1:00 PM to service time, at the funeral home.
