Keith Eugene Hernly, 84, of Farmland, IN passed away peacefully at his home, Thursday, February 3, 2022, with family by his side. He was born February 12, 1937, in Winchester, IN the son of Earl J. Audra Faye (Lamb) Hernly. He was a 1956 graduate of Stoney Creek High School. He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann (Brown) on December 24, 1956. They just celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
The first part of his career he and his wife, Shirley, moved to Glendale, OH to work at Harrington Jersey Dairy Farm. Keith, retiring in 1996, worked 30 years at ABB Westinghouse of Muncie, IN. He was a member of Historic Farmland, USA, Local Union 917, board member of Poplar Run Cemetery, Historian for Stoney Creek Alumni, and an All-Star Baseball Coach for Farmland in the 1970’s. He practiced gardening, with a passion for flowers, especially irises and lilies. Keith and Shirley made many memories together traveling and attending festivals. His hobbies included go-cart racing, decorating for holidays, especially Christmas, and collecting ball jars and fishing lures. He was a life-long IU Basketball fanatic.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Shirley; four sons, Steve (Tammy) of Farmland, IN, Mike (Rachel) of Farmland, IN, Mac (Barbara) of Albany, IN and Tim Hernly (Donnetta) of Farmland, IN; a sister, Evelyn Thompson (Lloyd) of Muncie, IN; nine grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; and a sister, Phyllis Jones.
