Lori Toland Obituary

We gather to remember Lori A. Toland, a beacon of love and compassion who filled our lives with unending warmth. Born on July 17, 1963, in Winchester, Indiana, Lori was a life-long resident who deeply loved her community.

This loving wife, mother, and grandmother departed from us on January 31, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and boundless spirit. An adventurer at heart, Lori reveled in the beauty of the world, with a special fondness for traveling. Her journeys were not just physical but also spiritual and emotional, as she navigated her life with grace and resilience. A reliable force of positivity, Lori was known for her dedication to her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She was a talented Nuclear Medical Technologist by profession, but her true passion was her family. She found joy in music, cooking, and gardening, hobbies that reflected her vibrant personality and nurtured her spirit. As Maya Angelou once said, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." Lori embodied this sentiment throughout her life, thriving amidst challenges, living passionately, and touching lives with her compassion.

Lori is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Toland; her mother, Geraldean (Tom) Oliver; her daughters, Stephanie (Al) Goldun and Heather (Mike) Savage; her grandchildren, James and Jine' Miller; her father-in-law, William Toland; her brothers, Mike (JoAnn) Garringer and Rick Garringer; her brothers-in-law, Bill Jr., John (Debra) Toland; her stepmother, Faye Current; her special friends Michelle Hiatt, Jamie O'Flynn, and Julie Davis, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Merritt Garringer; her mother-in-law, Barbara Toland, and her sister, Lesia Reiber.
