Our community lost a local servant leader, loving husband, and dedicated father and grandfather on May 11, 2021. Michael David Miller, 62, of Winchester passed unexpectedly and is mourned by so many who have had the fortune of knowing him.
Mike was born on Sept. 26, 1958, in New Castle.
A 1977 graduate of Union High School and 1981 graduate of Purdue University, Mike obtained a BS degree in Agricultural Economics.
Mike so genuinely offered his talents to improve the lives of those around him. As Vice President of Sales at Galfab, he was an industry leader known across the country for his work in waste management. He served on the Randolph Southern School Board for almost 12 years, spending his last evening with us at a board meeting proudly serving our local youth. He was a role model for a family of local educators who are inspired by his commitment to our community.
His greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 40 years, Carol; his son, Nick Miller; his daughter, Katie Lash and son-in-law John Lash, with granddaughters, Claire and Scarlett. Additionally, he is survived by his mother, Helen Miller, and sisters Kim (Dan) Freer, Lisa (Dennis) Hopkins and Jennifer (Brad) King.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Miller. He was loved by many additional in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 15 at the Miller Pond, the property of his dreams that he made come true. Friends and family may pay their respects from 3-6 PM with a funeral service by the water at 6 PM. Burial will be private on a future date.
The family respectfully asks that, due to the large gathering, all in attendance wear masks to keep everyone safe.
Wilson Shook Funeral Homes has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wilsonshookfh.com.
