Noel Arthur Obituary

With deep respect, we honor the life of Noel Arthur, known affectionately as "Doc", who was born on the 1st of January, 1924, in Harrisville, Indiana, and passed away on the 14th of September, 2023.

A courageous and dedicated man, Noel was a beacon of inspiration to his family, friends, and community. He demonstrated his talent in various pursuits, most notably as a star basketball player during his high school days at Spartanburg High School. His love for his family and country was deeply rooted, and these values guided him throughout his life. Noel's journey was marked by a storied career in the United States Army, retiring as a Sgt. Major in 1966 after having honorably served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

His dedication was not limited to his military service, as he also served the community as a School Bus Driver with the Randolph Southern School System for many years. A man of principle and conviction, Noel was a member of several local organizations, including the Lynn Volunteer Fire Department, Lynn Library Board, and a Free and Accepted Mason. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond, Indiana. His leadership, courage, and dedication to serving others were nothing short of inspiring. As Winston Churchill once said, "Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others."

Noel is survived by his sons, Bruce Arthur, and Steve Arthur and his wife, Debbie; his grandsons, Justin and his wife Nikole, Miles, and Dan; his granddaughters, Erin, Macey and Laurie; and his great-grandson, Triston. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Arthur, to whom he was married for 72 years, his father, Lester Arthur, his mother, Lenna Arthur, his ten brothers, and his three sisters.
