Phyllis Jones

Phyllis Arlene Jones, 74, of Parker City, IN passed away Tuesday morning, March 23, 2021 at IU Health, Ball Memorial Hospital of Muncie, IN. She was born December 28, 1946 in Randolph County, IN the daughter of Earl J. and Audra Faye (Lamb) Hernly. She was a 1964 graduate of Monroe Central High School of Parker City, IN.

Phyllis had worked at Kmart north in Muncie for several years. She was a member of East Jackson Church of God of Muncie, IN. She enjoyed spending her leisure time with flowers and gardening, embroidery and traveling. She was known for her many wonderful desserts.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 22 years, Rodney K. Jones; a son, Tony N. Thompson (Shannon) of Middletown, Indiana; a daughter, Karla K. Romack (Patrick) of Muncie, IN; three step-sons, Rodney Bergbauer (Mary) of Portland, IN, Scott Jones (Kelly) of Illinois and Jessie Jones (Cheryl) of Farmland, Indiana; three step-daughter, Teresa Smith of Naples, FL, Lisa Martin of Bluffton, IN and Robin Ginger (John) of Bluffton, IN; a brother, Keith Hernly (Shirley) of Farmland, IN; Evelyn Thompson (Lloyd) of Muncie, IN; two grandchildren, Robert Layne and Rebecca Layne; and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A service to celebrate Phyllis’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery of Unionport, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 26th at the funeral home.
