Richard Lee Phillips, 87, of Muncie, IN passed away March 18, 2022. He was born January 14, 1935, in Winchester, IN, the son of Howard and Helen (Stuck) Phillips. Richard retired as a highly skilled finish carpenter in 2000 after 31 years with United Home Supply. He enjoyed spending his leisure time practicing his art of woodworking and watching motorsports. He will be most remembered for the love he shared with his family, friends, neighbors, and his dog Rowdy. He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Larry Phillips of Eaton, IN, Leann Poehler (husband, David) of Marion, IN and David Phillips (wife, Tammy) of Yorktown, IN; four grandchildren, Brandon Phillips, Ayrton Phillips, Lindsay Galloway (husband, David) and Shawn Phillips; a great granddaughter, Barbara Galloway; a brother, Daniel Phillips; nieces, Carrie Orme, Amy Padgett, Sarah Beeson and Leslie Puckett; an uncle, Gary Stuck (wife, Anne). Very special friends include Kim and Dewayne Pettiford; Cami Foreman; Kathy, Shawn, Alicia, Audrey and Damon Felix; Brenda Phillips; Tom, Dee, Anna and Tina Maric; Ed Chester, Cindy Duncan and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl and Ronnie Cooper; stepmother, Lucy Phillips; grandparents, Albert and Marie Norton; a granddaughter, Brittiany Phillips; and a great granddaughter, Bailey Galloway.
The family would like to acknowledge the nursing staff of Westminster Village for the exceptional care they provided.
Family and friends may gather during visitation to celebrate Richard’s life at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., April 12, 2022. He will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery of Maxville, IN during a private ceremony.
