Sarah Mullen Obituary

Sarah E. Mullen, born in the loving heart of Muncie, Indiana on July 5, 1932, was a beacon of love and support for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A proud graduate of Selma High School in 1950, Sarah's journey took her through various avenues of life, from a dedicated security guard at Hills Dog Food Factory to the loving matriarch of her cherished family. Her reliable and supportive nature thrived in each role she undertook. Sarah's love for simple joys, like doing dishes, mowing the lawn, and gardening, was a testament to her grounded and comforting nature. A devoted attendee of the Farmland Friends Church, she carried her faith with grace, sharing love and kindness wherever she went. Nothing was more important to Sarah than her family. She loved capturing memories with her video camera, to share with others.

Sarah leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her sons, Philip Tharp (Brenda), and Chuck Tharp (Cindy); her daughter, Susan Lackey; brother, Jim Norton; grandchildren, Melissa (Rob) Stucko, Chad (Blair) Gordon, Robert Tharp, Nicholas (Beth) Tharp, Clorinda (Brandon) Culy, Jeremy (Jessica) Lackey, Cody (Christin) Lackey, Michael (Jordon) Lackey, Chris (Kayla) Lackey, and nineteen great-grandchildren. They will continue to honor Sarah's memory by living out the values she instilled in them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maggie Norton, husbands Gene Tharp and Harold Mullen, and siblings, Mildred Shaw, Naomi Norton, and Albert Norton.

For those whose lives were touched by Sarah, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11:00 am EST at the Wilson-Shook Funeral Homes And Cremation Center (Thornburg Memorial Chapel), 2048 North 1000 West, Parker City, Indiana, 47368.
