Virginia Ruth Tomey, 86, of Farmland, IN passed away peacefully at her residence, Sunday, January 30, 2022, with family by her side. She was born December 31, 1936, in Lockwood, WV, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle Louise (Grose) Songer. She was a homemaker.
Ruth was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Selma, IN, Farmland Lions Club and Farmland Quilting Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Tony W. Tomey (wife, Genene) of Parker City, IN and Curtis D. Tomey of Farmland, IN; grandsons, Wesley C. Tomey, Dustin W. Tomey, Derek A. Tomey and Mathew S. Tomey; a granddaughter, Crystal J. Tomey; 11 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Lois Christian (husband, Harold), Cathy Fancil, all of Dunkirk, IN and Rhonda Clubs; two brothers, Sam Songer (wife, Bonnie Jo) and Robert Songer (Nikki). She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Don W. Tomey; a daughter, Deborah Lynn Tomey; a grandson, Kyle Dean Tomey; a great granddaughter, Lillian Grace Tomey; and a great grandson, Nolan Tomey.
A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thornburg Memorial Chapel, of Parker City, IN. Mask are required by the family, no exceptions. Burial will follow in Garden of Memory Cemetery of Muncie, IN.
